Material Needs

Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project gladly accepts material donations. Every little bit helps and is needed. We appreciate your desire to help our project. With your support, your donated materials will help project funds go towards project goals of research and recovery of native forest birds.

Gear Needs

• • Field gloves: sizes small, medium and large. Suggestions from Amazon and Lowes.
  • Rain pants: small, medium and large. Suggestion from REI.
  • A24 Rat Traps, CO2 cartridges, and bait
  • Field camp consumables (toilet paper, paper towels, biodegradable dish soap, large garbage bags, Ziplocs). Costco or Amazon Gift Cards can help purchase these.
  • 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
  • Bleach
  • Coleman Propane Tanks- 16 oz. 
  • Rid-X
  • Nikwax Tech Wash and Wash in. This can be found at REI or Amazon. This helps us to take care of our field gear and make it last longer!
  • Office supplies (Copy/printer paper, envelopes, printer cartridges, stamps)
  • Rubber Boots. Suggestion from Amazon. Popular sizes are women’s size 6-10, men sized 8-10.
  • Rite in the Rain field notebooks
  • Rite in the Rain printer paper
  • Dry Bags
  • Backpacks. Suggestions include Kelty Men’s and Women’s packs and Mountainsmith packs. Typical sizes that we use are 50-60L and 100 or more L for backpacking trips.
  • Gaiters (such as Outdoor Research Men and Women). Generally, we need higher over the ankle gaiters to prevent rain going into our leather boots!
  • Fuel for field vehicles (Gas station gift cards)
  • Landscaping help
  • Printing services
  • Graphic design services 
  • Solar power equipment– we are looking into installing solar at our office. This is quite as expense! But will help during long power outages and help reduce our carbon footprint.
