Megan Stevens
After growing up in Maui, Megan followed her love for animals to Colorado State University where she studied animal science. During a summer break back home, she completed an internship with Wildlife Management at Haleakalā National Park, which sparked her passion for avian conservation and habitat restoration. She subsequently joined the Maui Seabird Recovery Project, where she worked on invasive species eradication and monitoring of native seabird populations. Prior to graduating, Megan spent six months studying abroad in New Zealand, further strengthening her focus on island ecosystems and conservation. She then returned to Hawaiʻi to volunteer as a seabird rehabilitator at the Hawaiʻi Wildlife Center (Oʻahu Satellite Clinic), contributing to the care and recovery of injured native seabirds, while simultaneously working at Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi assisting with invasive plant removal. Megan is now back home on Maui as a member of the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project, where she continues to support Hawaiʻi’s native bird conservation efforts.
